DESCRIPTION:You’ll learn about valuation\, the types of funding that are available\, and how different funding types interact in the “capital stack.”  \nWe’ll consider real-world financing case studies\, including Meta\, Moderna\, and Glowforge. In addition to the most common funding sources\, we’ll look at recent alternatives such as crowdfunding and initial coin offerings (ICOs).  \nYou’ll also learn the role of a term sheet in financing\, and we’ll walk through an example of one\, clause by clause – translating the legal-ese of these often complex documents into plain English. \nMatt is an attorney specializing in intellectual property and technology law. She has been participating in outdoor recreation from age 10 when she and her family migrated from Mexico. Martha has a background in Environmental Toxicology and has experience \nbringing safe products to market at large CPG companies. In 2020 she decided to dive into entrepreneurship and work on creating Itacate as a way to make the outdoors\, especially the backcountry\, more inclusive by combining her passions for food as a connection to culture\, outdoor recreation\, and DEI.
