Geekdom, San Antonio’s collaborative startup community, has selected seven companies to participate in its 2023 Geekdom Pre-accelerator, a free, six-week program designed to help early-stage startup founders effectively pitch their companies and learn about startup financials while creating valuable connections with local business leaders and fellow founders. Jockey Ventures (formerly Misfit Ventures), a venture studio that assists in co-building startups through strategic collaboration, will support this Geekdom Pre-accelerator cohort with a $100,000 sponsorship of the program.

We believe in the concept of collectively leveraging resources, expertise, and networks to give startups a distinct advantage,” said Ben Jones, Jockey Ventures founder and Geekdom entrepreneur in residence. “The Geekdom Pre-accelerator perfectly embodies this philosophy by offering a robust platform for startups. Our sponsorship is a testament to our belief in the model and the potential of the companies participating. We see Geekdom as the ideal partner to operate the pre-accelerator. Once startups complete the program, they can tap into a wealth of resources available to them.”

The seven companies participating in the 2023 Geekdom Pre-accelerator are:
- Based, founded by Juan Farias, is an immersive content platform that makes content meaningful and monetization easy.
- ColdCalr, founded by Ray Cantu, is an AI-powered SaaS Platform that helps salespeople improve their performance when making cold calls.
- Craved, founded by Kush Chopra, is a company that makes healthy food exciting.
- Culture Travels, founded by Leroy Adams, bridges the gap between travelers and destinations through our magazine (digital and print), podcast, and video content.
- PacAPit, founded by John Chadwell, is an artist-designed, low-impact, collapsible, full-function fire pit that stows away 1” thin.
- Suitcase Coder (Code Flight), founded by Laura Ruiz-Roehrs, looks to curate affordable learning paths, hands-to-code projects, and personalized guidance for a seamless learn-to-code journey.
- TapNotion, founded by Ryan Carter, is a company that empowers food service employees with encyclopedic menu knowledge through a fun and engaging memorization game.
After the six-week program, each of the seven founders will pitch their company to the community during San Antonio Startup Week. At that time, one of the startups will receive a $20,000 SAFE note investment from Geekdom.
