Join us for a celebration of conservation and the fall migration of monarch butterflies with caterpillar observation and butterfly tagging.
Wait–what’s tagging!?! Monarch tagging is a citizen science project where participants place safe stickers on butterflies to provide data on the fall migration. In this unique experience, we’ll be tagging monarchs and sending them off into the migration, right from Geekdom!
Enjoy food, cocktails, music, and an eye-opening discussion with Texas Butterfly Ranch’s Monika Maeckle about the “endangered monarch” as we celebrate Birdie’s 3rd year of the Caterpillar Condo program. Our friends at Rainbow Gardens and the Nectar Bar will join us to talk about pollinator plants and gardens and we’ll have caterpillar condos–pop up mesh cages that house a milkweed plant–the host plant for a monarch caterpillar– on site.
This event is free, open to the public, and an official event of the Monarch Butterfly and Pollinator Festival. This event is for adults.
