Geekdom Pre-Accelerator launches with Jockey Ventures as lead sponsor

Geekdom, San Antonio’s collaborative startup community, has selected seven companies to participate in its 2023 Geekdom Pre-accelerator, a free, six-week program designed to help early-stage startup founders effectively pitch their companies and learn about startup financials while creating valuable connections with local business leaders and fellow founders. Jockey Ventures (formerly Misfit Ventures), a venture studio that assists in co-building startups through strategic collaboration, will support this Geekdom Pre-accelerator cohort with a $100,000 sponsorship of the program.

“Jockey Ventures’ primary focus is on championing the venture studio model. We believe in the concept of collectively leveraging resources, expertise, and networks to give startups a distinct advantage,” said Ben Jones, Jockey Ventures founder and Geekdom entrepreneur in residence. “The Geekdom Pre-accelerator perfectly embodies this philosophy by offering a robust platform for startups. Our sponsorship is a testament to our belief in the model and the potential of the companies participating. We see Geekdom as the ideal partner to operate the pre-accelerator. Once startups complete the program, they can tap into a wealth of resources available to them.”

“The pre-accelerator program here at Geekdom gives companies and early-stage startups the chance to learn first-hand how to successfully cultivate their ideas,” said Geekdom CEO Charles Woodin. “Our values align with those of Jockey Ventures, and their eagerness to support young companies within the Geekdom community is appreciated and inspiring. Ben and his team are tremendous assets not only for our pre-accelerator companies but to San Antonio’s startup ecosystem as a whole.”
