Dear Geekdom Community,
As many of you can relate, practicing social distancing has been difficult for me. Over the past month and a half, I’ve realized the thing I miss most is the hum of activity inside of Geekdom. I miss seeing your smiling faces as we passed in the halls. I miss the meetings in our conference rooms, the work being done in offices, and the collaboration happening in our community space. I miss physically being in the middle of business happening in San Antonio. I cannot wait for these days to return. However, I also care too much about the health and safety of our community to rush reopening.
After reading through Governor Abbott’s Plan to Reopen Texas I have made the decision to hold off on opening our doors until things seem more clear. Safety is at the forefront of my mind as I work with our leadership team to plan reopening. We will continue to monitor the guidance from City, County, State, and National leaders as this pandemic progresses to determine when the best time is to allow people back in the space. For now, we will remain closed until, at least, the middle of May.
In the meantime, our team is hard at work making our space ready for social distancing. We are relying heavily on the guidelines put out by the CDC and OSHA to make sure our space is clean and safe when you return. In anticipation, we already rearranged the desks in the common areas of the 7th and 8th floors to maintain safe distances. A deep clean with an antimicrobial cleaner is scheduled to be performed on all of our floors today.
As we await reopening, the staff is diligently working to make our digital community even better. Our push to expand our virtual offerings includes the launch of our new forums website next week and the introduction of our Virtual Mentorship Program. Additionally, we are exploring a new virtual membership that would allow you to digitally connect with the San Antonio entrepreneurial community from anywhere in the world.
As always, we as a staff are here to support you. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns you may have. Thanks for making Geekdom a place we all love and are excited to return to. Until then, we’ll see you online!
Sincerely,
Charles Woodin
